Tablets and Laptops use different types (makes) of CPU. In the Windows PC arena then the main types (all made by Intel) are as follows: Celeron Pentium i3 i5 i7 The list above goes from the slowest (Celeron) to the fastest (i7) though there is some overlap (a newer Pentium may be faster than an older i3 for example) While fender says an i5 or an i7 (and they are the...

It very much depends on what you want to use your new machine for.

Celeron
Pentium
i3
i5
i7

The list above goes from the slowest (Celeron) to the fastest (i7) though there is some overlap (a newer Pentium may be faster than an older i3 for example)

While fender says an i5 or an i7 (and they are the best) I have a number of computers at home that run i3s and they are fine for "general office work".

However if your budget can stretch to an i5 then go for it.

Unless you need a lot of power then an i7 may offer more power than you need to justify paying for it.

Note that AMD also make CPUs for laptops but they are not as popular as those from Intel but an AMD CPUs will run Windows just as well as an Intel CPU.

Tablets use different CPUs (Snapdragon is one make I have heard of) but I am not sure what is the "best".
