Sony Bravia Smart Tv - Information Bar!

This is the first time I have had a smart tv and it is great ....however every time I change a programme, mute or do other actions on the remote an 'info bar' appears for about 5-10 seconds at top of screen giving such info as stereo, time, hdmi etc.

This is annoying. Is this usual on smart tvs and if so can I not go into settings to stop it appearing?

Have searched the manual but cannot find how to do this.

Well, it doesn't happen on my Samsung....unless I press the "info" button to display the info you mention. I think that there must be a "settings" menu in which this annoyance can be turned off.

Googling shows it's a common problem but hard to find an answer without exact model and varies between countries. Best I've found is press the info button 3 times to make it disappear - not very satisfactory though. Try the sony forums?

Yes have tried forums and everything -press 3 time does not work!
Some say reset to factory settings but loathe to do this as I have set up customised settings for audio and picture.
