Windows Live Mail - Network Isn't Available?

I'm using Windows Live Mail on a Windows 10 machine. My ISP is Plusnet. This has been working well for over a year. It has suddenly started telling me: "We can't sign you in because the network isn't available. Make sure your device is connected to the internet and try again." When I click on 'ok' it takes me to a sign-in page for Hotmail, which I don't use on Live Mail anyway. I click on the drop-down box to choose the PlusNet address and re-enter the password, but the same message comes up. Strangely, however, the e-mails seem to come through anyway and send quite happily.
Does anybody know what's going on and how to stop this? It really is irritating! I do seem to have developed something called Kaspersky Connect, which seems to connect my computer through various other countries at odd times, but at the moment that doesn't seem to be happening and I'm still getting the message.
