What are those numbers (in brackets) now seen on Youtube tabs? Can any of you make sense of them? I'm currently on (729)

It seems to be the number of unread notifications on Youtube for the channels you subscribe to. If you click on the Youtube bell icon (top right), then the settings icon, you should be able to disable it there.
