We were given an OTT box for Christmas, we don't watch much tele during the week, and our internet's not great so we just put it to one side. Now the giver is coming round and wants to set it up for us. We have a freeview box with lots of stuff recorded on it and stored, and with a schedule to record a few series during the week. Will the installation of this box interfere with any of that? And will we still be able to watch stuff from the freeview box after it's installed? I've tried the box forums and help pages but they all talk about downloading the freeview add-on, which is not what I need to know about. Can anyone help me please?

"Will the installation of this box interfere with any of that?" No
"will we still be able to watch stuff from the freeview box after it's installed?" Yes.
It's just another device attached to your TV. Just as connecting a DVD player doesn't prevent you using a Freeview box, Satellite Receiver, or VCR, nor does connecting any other box, provided that you have enough inputs on the TV.

But if your 'net speed isn't so good, it might degrade the service you get on every other device.

Thank you both. I guess like everything else in the world of technology we might use it eventually (especially if we can get the bike racing on it) but my main concern for now was that I would lose everything we had stored, and have to watch the programmes on Freeview channels as they happen... Thank you x
Absolutely no problem. Freeview, DVD and anything else just uses an HDMI connection and you simply choose the HDMI to switch too on your TV remote. We have a Kodi box and its brilliant. Seen loads of things we otherwise would not have. You will nned an half decent broadband signal though. Can you go fibre in your area?

Thanks mjwman - I'm going to stop worrying and get it set up. I don't know if we can get fibre - we hardly use the internet at home. I guess when we need to start using it "properly" we'll sort something out For now, you can find us over here, just climbing out of our comfort zone...
