should it be post free
its a small hard drive thats faulty

Under the provisions of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, the seller is responsible for paying the cost of return carriage when goods are faulty or not as described. (Anything in the seller's 'terms and conditions' that seems to suggest otherwise is automatically rendered void by the Regulations).
I agree with Chris but getting the supplier to fork out for return post is sometimes a little difficult.
