Cannot Synch Ipad With Itunes On Laptop

Ok having problems with syncing iPad with I tunes. I have the latest version of IOS on iPad and reinstalled ITunes on computer this morning. Connected with usb cable and iTunes does not pick up my iPad. Devices tab is shaded out. Have run the diagnostics test on iTunes and it says no iPad found even though it is connected. When plugging in cable the laptop opens the files I have on my iPad. It worked perfectly a few days ago as transferred photos from laptop to iTunes. Please help. Tried all 3 usb points on laptop. Cable working fine as well.

TRY quiting iTunes, then relaunch the app, and try syncing again. Sometimes this is enough to get things working again.

Also be sure you have the newest version of iTunes on the computer: iTunes 12.3

To go a little further, I would restart or 'reset' all devices....
