Earpiece Speaker Sounds Wrong On Iphone 6!

Just lately the earpiece speaker on my phone sounds odd - as if I have the other person on loudspeaker when that's not the case. Sometimes it sounds a bit distorted too.

It only seems to happen when phoning one person though and he says it sounds like he's on speakerphone from his end. He's got the same phone as me. Have tried calling other mobiles and landlines but they sound fairly normal as far as I can tell.

Any ideas anyone?
