My mousepad stopped working on the 26feb, and was advised to buy an independent mouse, which i did. Then out of the blue, my mousepad decided to work again. Is this strange?

You hadn't inadvertently switched it off, had you? Mouse pads are usually switchable, either by a button near the pad or a function key indicated by a symbol blatantly obvious to the laptop manufacturer but completely undecipherable to the rest of the world. You can usually switch it via Control Panel > Mouse as well.

No, I went through this when i started a thread back in February. It just stopped working, there wasn´t a button to switch it on again. I even took it to a computer shop, and they said its broken and would cost a small fortune to repair, and that the independent mouse was the cheapest option.
Yes, I responded to that post. I didn't know about the

Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings enable/disable

method then. Have a look at it now, whilst thing are working, then you'll be ready for next time.

It could be the driver became corrupt and automatically downloaded again later.

Question Author

Is it a Windows laptop? Don't see why not, you'd just have to remember where the keys are :)

XP, Windows 7? Give us a clue
Question Author
Anyway since i´ve got my mousepad back, its been a pain in the rear, eg the cursor stops in mid sentence when i´m typing making a mess of several words, is there a simple solution?
You can adjust the sensitivity in the settings
Question Author

Question Author
hi again hc4361, i´m at this very minute trying to install it. It seems to be taking forever. or maybe it can´t be done.
Install what? There is nothing to install.
And your laptop can't be Windows 7 AND Vista.
Question Author
you´re right i stand corrected, even though theres not much in it, theyre not the same. Mine is in fact is a windows 7 starter, 32 bit.
any road up, i went to the control panel, and after a lot of faffing, i was told to download something with an unicode, which i did, but i dont see anything different, yet.
As it W7 starter you can't change the language easily :(
Question Author
i know, i tried a while ago, but somehow thought you had a new method. ah well, ce la vie.
If I knew you had that OS I would never have suggested it. :( You do need to use google translate to understand the control menu though
