Hi, I would like to watch Youtube videos from my Dell desktop PC on my Panasonic flatscreen TV. I have connected an HDMI lead between them but I don't know what to do next. The PC screen seems to shut the windows down and I can't see anything on the TV, I've checked AV1, AV2, Component, etc, please can someone help?!

You need to find HDMI1 or HDMI2 etc on your TV list of input options. It should be listed along with AV11 etc.
Is there an icon on your keyboard that looks like two squares interlocking or one square with a horizontal arrow pointing out?

The square is supposed to represent a screen.

If so, try pressing that. You may have to press the FN key as well.

As bhg has stated, your tv must be on the correct HDMi input. Make sure the cable is connected firmly into the tv socket.

OK, I got the TV on the HDMI1 channel (which is where the lead is plugged into) but the TV screen was blank. And I couldn't find the icon on my keyboard which was mentioned... in fact I couldn't bring up any windows or do anything on my PC. When I unplug the lead from the TV then the PC comes back to normal... (I've got a Dell Inspiron with Windows 8.1)...
Do you know the model number of your Dell?

Dell Inspiron 3847.
Keyboard: Dell KB 113 USB Entry Keyboard
Firstly, the FN and F8 together.

If that doesn't work, run this tool to make sure all your drives are correct and up to date:
