Just Had A Worrying "java" Download Which Was Classed As A Threat (Possible Virus?) From My Mcafee Antivirus Which Looked Like It Came From This Sites Page

I had other windows open but the java download was only on this sites page/in fron of the url unless it came from another page and tries to try and hide itself to disguise where it came from? I've never had this

It said something like "you need to download a java update" then i clicked the "x" to make it disappear then a tab came up saying something like "Are you sure you wish to cancel" again then I clicked the "x" to make it disappear and then instead of canceling it started to instantly download the supposed "java" update!

I instantly clicked "Cancel" and then on the left a tab suddenly popped up from the Mcafee virus stating that "Threats to be removed was cancelled" or something like that.

I just want to state that Mcafee came free with my computer a few years ago and it's still here and pops up time to time to warn me about possible threats and then to ask me to subscribe to the paid version so am not sure whether this had anything to do with it.

Just as I was typing this long post I had a popup from an authent looking ad from ism2pub.com which I just found here

http://malwaretips.com/blogs/s-m2pub-com-removal/

To be a virus so will remove it. Will my M.S.E or Malwarebytes find it or do I need to uninstall it in my "Uninstall recent programs as the site above states?

Also is this connected to the afore mentioned earlier "java" update?

Thanks in advance as i'm logging off and removing the virus in a minute and then logging off until I come back later. :)

Similar problems with Java here except Windows prevented it running because of possible threat. Good ol' Windows. Hans - what do you think?
Malware bytes got rid of mine.
I also had this yesterday just on the AB site.
This is a Copy and Paste from another thread,

"I use Firefox with pop-ups blocked. I also use Adblock Plus but disable it for AB. At the current moment Adblock Plus has been re-activated for AB until I get a re-assurance from the AB Editor that all the Site is "Clean"

My AV is Comodo free.

So far, I have not received any messages about anything."

I am having this trouble too. It has got to be this site as all others OK and I had to connect here via Google not my usual link.
I have Avast and they found it and cleared it yesterday but now it is back.
Will not use AB until they sort it out.
I thought that I got rid of it but back again, only on this site though. I can only access AB on my phone now, this Java thing is blocking my access and when I try to click it off it tries downloading an exe file. I have tried malware bytes and Spybot and I still get it as soon as I try typing anything on AB.
Malwarbytes or similar programs won't stop the dubious activity on the web site. They'll only repair the damage it leaves behind. You need to use an ad blocker such as Firefox's which is the one I use but no doubt other browsers have them.
Or somehow prevail on the Editor to banish such things from the site
I've just (about 10 mins. ago) had the very same thing appear when reading comments on this site. It said it was downloading and kept coming back when I pressed the X at the top. Eventually I managed to stop it and came off Google - then my Avast anti-virus popped up and said it had detected malware and dealt with it. Rather worrying, but I'm glad I updated avast recently. Will the answer bank find out about this on its own, or should I notify someone and if so how?
Ive installed the add blocker and so far it seems to be working.
I am also getting this on the one look site as well as Ab and it keeps booting me off.
Not surprised if updating java with Mcfee. Mcfee can be unticked when updating. Now Mcfee want your money or block www. Delete Java And any Mcfee files. Download a java again without Mcfee (untick Mcf). Thats what I would do ;)
Are all the adverts every 2/3 posts and the green writing part of the problem? Sorry for posting twice but i wanted to be quick
I don't think it is anything to do with Mccafee, it appears to be a virus. I thought I had got rid of it and it's back again grrr
No. Green script is spellings etc. Adverts is how this site pays for itself.
which ad blocker are folk using on firefox? IE is holding up for me, for the moment. Chrome has had huge problems and I haven't yet tried Firefox this morning, was useless yesterday....
If a virus you could try clearing cache & history. Or clean up with malware (which I never use).
I use firefox, rarely IE.
Have tried that tambo, no indication at all it is a virus from Bullguard or Malware. I'm going to check if mcafee has crept in and delete both java and that b-awful package.

According to one website I visited earlier it appears that someone has attached attached a malicious virus code on one of the adverts here so not the fault of the advert or the admin staff here but the admin need to find out asap which advert is infected and get rid of it and report the findings to the company whose advert it is so they can take action against this attack as no one knows what kind of destruction of your computer or harvesting of information will occur if this virus gets into our computers.

Can't the sites moderators phone/email the admin via their personal means of getting hold of the admin in case of major site emergency as this IS a cause of emergency if they're not around this weekend to deal with this attack?
I'm mainly Chrome and only gone into IE for AB
