I want to burn a 3 hour film to DVD via RealPlayer.

Most DVDs are 120mins only but I've bought some Double Layer 8.5gb disks which state I have a 240 minutes.

When I attempt the download, RealPlayer says there is insufficient disk space. How do I resolve this, please ?

Cheers.

have you got a dvd reorder that will take double sided discs
I think your issue is more the file size rather than the length. Are you trying to burn a HD movie onto the DVD? If you are you would need to burn it to BluRay. To burn to a DVD you would need to reduce the resolution.
BTW to burn to BluRay you would need to have a BluRay writer drive.
I would suspect the double layer one is capable of 8.5G but they would need to be used in a disk burner that supported that. Maybe your drive doesn't ? That would be my first guess. What drive do you have and does it's manual say what it can cope with ?
Ah that's the problem with getting interrupted and then forgetting you were writing a response (especially when the PC screen update clearly did nothing of the sort). I see this has now already been suggested.

Right, now for a response to your welcome suggestions.
Ivor: It's a brand new PC with a DVD recorder and as far as I'm aware the dics I have are one sided (8.5GB 8xSpeed 240 mins)

Stoofur: I'm trying to burn a 1935 B&W film that I've got in my Realplayer library; duration 2hrs 30 mins. So I expect it's not HD.

OG: Yes, the double layer disc is 8.5GB and my new PC didn't have a manual for the DVD drive so I can't answer your question.

Fender: I downloaded this programme but it turned out to be a trial version, which I'm wary of, and it seemed too complicated for my limited ability.

I know how to burn a CD from Realplayer and thought I could just insert this double layer disc and burn as usual, but it's proving a pain ! Anyway, thank you all for your help.

You might be able to find its manual on the Net. If it is the drive not coping then you have an option to treat yourself to a higher spec one.
