If you are thinking of going on broadband,DO NOT, pick Tiscali they are, utterly useless. their sevice centre in India is a joke. After six weeks of dreadful service, I have just discovered that every time you call them to report a fault or failure, they charge you on your phonebill!!!!! Yes you pay them each time they fail you. This company is making money out of its subscribers by not providing the service it charges you for monthly. DO NOT USE THEM

I am with Tiscali and have been since January 2005.  I have never had a problem with them so i havent had to call their helpline.

Unfortunately, with me the nasty people from BT would only allow themselves and Tiscali to have BBand connection so I had little or no choice.

Touch wood and all that i am more than happy with their service but like I have said I havent had any tech problems.

I was with worldonline broadband (a Tiscali company) who changed the name to Tiscali. After 5 years I left them.
I was paying 26.99 pm when NEW customers were paying 19.99 for the same 512kbps ADSL. I was told the price would drop, I'd be upgraded to 1mb, etc.. month after month of lies.
Call centre in India is useless, one in Milton Keynes is just as bad. I gave a months notice and then had to wait 2 months to get another provider. Tiscali lied over and over again.. we've informed BT Wholesale and they will remove our marker off your line so you can go to another povider (ISP).. LIES !!
I got OFCOM involved and there was no request made by Tiscali .. that was 6 weeks after I'd been disconected with them.. Finaly Tosscali's marker was taken off by BT Wholesale after another 7 - 10 day wait.. then I had to wait about a week for BT to connect me to my new ISP.
I am now with NAIMS http://www.naims.co.uk who have no download limits (like some ISP's do) and they've been very helpfull. Perhaps not the cheapest but cheaper than Tosscali. I pay 24.99 now for a 1mb ADSL connection.. that's 2 cheaper than I paid Tosscali for a 512kb ADSL connection. DO NOT TOUCH TISCALI WITH A BARGEPOLE THE LENGTH OF THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA !!! For your info, look on the complaints section of http://www.ispreview.co.uk and you will see Tiscali are the most complained about ISP. Also check out other forums, http://www.net4nowt.com .. etc.
I have had a problem with Tiscali, but in the end it was no problem at all. I contacted them today about being offline and they tracked it down to BT doing engineering work. I'm not a fan of Indian call centres, and I did have to go through many hoops to convince them I knew what I was talking about (complicated by the fact that they don't support Macs), but in fact young Indian chaps were surprisingly knowledgeable.

I think the trouble is, you need to be too, to get a result.

My complaint will be going to BT, who caused the line fault and the subsequent call charges. They should pay.

BT by the way generally deny all knowledge, but nine times out of ten, it is down to them. They control the broadband, not Tiscali or any other ISP. They even deny all knowledge, I speak from bitter experience, when BT is your ISP!!

Tiscali are absolutely apauling as far as being an ISP is concerned.

Never Ever use them!

I had perfect service for about 6 months. Then it all went wrong! Their support (based in India and all use the same name (so you cant complain or single anyone out)) are crp at the very best. Their prices are not competative and the service is slow. They even refused to let me leave their service to join another broadband provider. It took me having to change BT phone numbers, and cancelling direct debits to break free.

Stay Away! let them continue to go broke.
