Hi - I was with BTinternet and I changed a number of years ago.
I kept using my btinternet email address and I got an email from them last week telling me they were closing the email address down
Not a problem really because I'll use another address. Unfortunately, I've just realised that I use that btinternet address to sign up for loads of other application - facebook etc.
If that address closes down soon, will I lose all the applications that I have used the btinternet address to sign into as I guess the address will no longer exist?

Go into everything you opened with that address and edit your details ....replace with new one..
Yes, in the time you have left you need to go to those accounts and change them to the email address you currently use.

Thanks
Use sites like Yahoo Or Gmx to get email addresses that aren't tied to an internet provider; that way no future changes are required if you do change your provider.
hotmail is no more & its Outlook.com now, tho the email address still holds......for now
It is my understanding that those BTinternet email addresses were hosted by Yahoo. What is happening is that BT are porting those across. Addresses and many of the features will remain the same.

My guess would be that wherever you've used this address do not bother rechecking regularly that it's still active. That you'd be able to make updates for your own convenience in your own time.
I have just managed to sign up for 12 months free BT Premium Mail to keep my email address as I am with Talk Talk. A few years ago I got a new email which was with gawab.com which was supposed to obligate the need for changing if I changed provider - which then disappeared leaving me stuck with getting no emails!
Hi Daij.....It might be worth your reading lankeela's thread wherein I have commented. :-
