Acer Wi-Fi Problem

Have bought a new Acer A1 tablet - in the same room as the router the
wi-fi is perfect but move across the hall 10ft into next room it takes a long time to do anything - very annoying especially when I want to listen to music off YouTube.

The router is a new one from TalkTalk as I complained about the last ones wifi range and they sent me a slightly better one. The router is a D-link DSL 3780.

Bought a Netgear wi-fi booster from PC world this morning and after following the instructions carefully - made not a blind of difference.

PS. the walls are single brick thick.

Have thought about upgrading the Devolo dlan 200 that I have to a Powerline one with built in wi-fi but is a bit costly - any useful advice please would be welcome.

I would experiment with www.speedtest.net to find out exactly where (location of the tablet) the drop off in performance is occurring.

Bear in mind that the problem might be interference rather than loss of signal – with that in mind take a look at the signal strength the tablet is receiving from your wireless router (at various locations).

Try another wireless device (laptop?) and see how that performs - to determine whether it is an issue with the tablet or router.
