This morning, my laptop was very slow and temperamental and kept throwing up the error message: 'Run out of memory on line 1'.
Anyone know what this is about?

Which software were you running at the time? For example did you have Internet Explorer open or were you using Microsoft Word or something else?

I had Internet Explorer open. I don't think Word was open at the time as far as I can remember.
I specifically mentioned Internet Explorer as I'd found an online reference to an update for it producing the problem that you've referred to. So the answer might simply be to check that you've got the very latest update for IE that's compatible with your laptop's operating system.

Alternatively, use a decent browser!

(Most people around here wouldn't touch IE with the proverbial bargepole!)

Thanks Buenchico. Will check if I have the latest IE. Think I'm probably a dinosaur as I rather like IE!!
Saw this if it helps.

I take it you are using Internet Explorer?

A couple of things to try:
In IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab. Scroll down to the "Browsing" section. Remove the check mark beside "Display a notification about every script error" and put a check mark beside "Disable script debugging". Click OK.

If you have Internet Explorer 7 (has tabs), then go > Tools > Internet Options > Browsing History > Delete button. Then click delete "Temporary Internet Files".

If you have Internet Explorer 6, then go > Tools > Internet Options > General Tab. Under the Temporary Internet Files section, click delete files and OK.

Thanks to you too The Winner. Have checked under advanced options but yousuggestions are already in place. Am now deleting temporary files. Final stupid question (well, I never said I knew much about computers) - how do you find out what version of Internet Explorer you are using.....?!
To find out your version of IE, click 'Help' on the menu bar and then 'About Internet Explorer'. It should then state what version you have. I would suggest you install at least IE9 as former versions are less secure.

I'd go with Buenchico's suggestions and Use Mozilla Firefox for web browsing.
