I was reading conne's thread about Harvey and you mentioned the demonic animal that we know as cat.
Do you have your own cat(s) now or are they just visiting opportunists?
I watched the Secret World of Cats and it was good, but I would like the see the data and information that was collected. They fascinate me - they are devious and manipulative and made decisions on what they want to do with no thought for anyone else but themselves. I should have been a Cat-ologist. Maybe when I grow up!!

conne - if you had ever lived with a cat you would understand that they are plain evil. The lad in my avatar thinks that wakening me at 2 in the morning because he is hungry/bored is acceptable.
I used to have a dog and presumed that cats were just the same but smaller. Nope - they are lovely animals and great companions but if they don't want to do something they will not do it. They think nothing or biting their humans and even visiting workmen.
Enjoy your wee dog - he loves and needs you. Cats!!

LBC is largely an outdoor cat, who will accept being stroked but doesn't go out of his way to seek affection. On colder nights he will sleep in an old suitcase on top of my wardrobe, and he definitely regards my house as part of his territory. But I've no idea of whether he's still got another home or not! (On the rare occasions that I see him outside, I try to work out where he might be basing his activities but I can't see any pattern to his movements).
Shakatu definitely thinks that she lives here. She spends a great deal of her time on my bed and frequently demands that I join her (so that she can curl up on top of me for an hour or two). I was totally confident that she wasn't visiting anyone else until a couple of weeks ago, when she turned up with a tiny bald patch on the back of her neck. I initially assumed that she'd had a chunk of her hair scratched out during a fight but a closer inspection showed that a vet might well have shaved a bit of hair off to apply a 'spot on' flea treatment. (I've bought flea treatments for both cats but not applied then for fear over 'overdosing' them; at the moment, neither of them seem to have any fleas).
So I've no real idea whether they've still got 'proper' homes or not!
(BTW: 'He' and 'she' above are just guesswork; I've not made a close inspection under their tails!)
I'll look for any replies tomorrow (if the wi-fi in my B&B works!) but I'm off to bed now, so I'll say 'Good night'.

My love for cats started with a young, stray (un-neutered) ginger tom who used to visit me. He'd got to the stage in his life when he'd worked out the basics of sexual activity. i.e.he knew that he should cling on for dear life with his claws, sinking his teeth in as well for extra grip, while moving his body backward and forwards.
The only problem was that he'd not yet worked out exactly what, or who, should be on the receiving end of his attentions. Being woken at 3am by a ginger tom rogering your shoulder, while sinking his teeth into your neck, can be quite a shock!

Being Bipolar may be horrendous but being unable to work is a good side effect - if you have a civil service pension that is.

we have a cat aged 12 Violet Elizabeth Bott and she is definitely boss in our house when I had 2 shar peis [ one has died of old age at 14] she would either get on a chair so she was higher than them and give them a whop on the head or she would whop them as they strolled past, now we have one dog she ousts her and takes the her place in the dog basket. I found that programme the secret World of cats fascinating.
I have a black and white cat Kronos and a bull mastiff Bruno. Bruno knows who is boss and it isn't him. Kronos totally rules the household There are several windows open for him but he will come and knock at the French doors to be let in. Ignoring him does no good he persist until he is down right annoying and once let in he wanders through the house out the window and round to the door to be let in again.
They are really interesting animals. Many a time I have been going upstairs to do my puzzle book only to find Frankie wandering down the stairs with my pen in his mouth.
Brinjal - do you live in big cat territory? If so are the wild animals any threat to your moggie? Bull Mastiffs are gorgeous - my first love was a cross Bull Mastiff/German Shepherd. Lovely animal and great friend both to me and my wee brother.
Dee Sa - unusual breed of dog. I have seen one Shar Pei - Ostend 1981. Fascinated by the tongue.
Boxtops - my dad was a train driver and worked crazy shifts. He used to go on about a cat that used to sit on a high wall and either scare him senseless when it was dark or whacking him as he passed. Cats have a strange sense of humour.
I suppose that I should pay attention to young Francis clawing at my leg and screaming that he is "Starving". It is hard to ignore a cat.
