.My wife dropped her 7" maxtouuch tablet and cracked her screen, her screen is now unreadable so I plugged a USB cable from my laptop into it to load the books she had on it to the PC. But my laptop can't seem to find any data from the tablet even tho she has a number of books on it 2 of which she just downloaded the day before and has yet to read. Can she go to her amazon account where she purchased the books and download them for free as she has already bought them on to a new device as the one she's broke is unrepairable.

Yes. All she needs to do is install the Kindle reader, register the device to her Kindle account, go to Manage My Kindle and then download any or all of her stuff.
