Does anyone know whether, if I had two Kindles, I would be able to download on to the new one the titles I have already bought via Amazon? I know you can downlaod them again if you lose or replace your Kindle but am not sure if they allow you to have the same titles on more than one device.

Yes, it does it automatically. I have a kindle and my son got a kindle fire for his birthday (yesterday) which is in my account and it down loaded my books without us asking it to.
yes you can, as sher says
ps sher - hope there were no "iffy" books!
No, just Aga sagas, :(

Thanks to you both. I sometimes have trouble sleeping so am thinking of getting one of the new Kindles with a built in backlight so that I don't disturb my husband too much when I have a bad night.
i have one of those - it gives of a fair amount of light in a dark room
