Chromebook Confusion Re Photos!

Google drive offers storage, 5GB shared between google drive, and google + photos. Anything over 5GB you have to start paying for.
Don't quite understand what this means re the sharing between the two!

It simply means that the aggregated storage, from the two systems, can't exceed 5Gb. If you only use Google Drive, you can have 5Gb of storage there. If you only use Google+ Photos, you can have 5Gb of storage there. If you use both and, say, have files totalling 3Gb on Google Drive, then you'll have 2Gb left which you can use on either Google Drive or Google+ Photos, or shared between them.
