Thanks to CHUCK FICKENS for your advice and as suggested I have downloaded the SAMSUNG KIES software, however I have still not managed to transfer any photos. I am sure the answer is there somewhere but I have failed to locate it.

It would be appreciated if anyone out there could supply me with a" FOOLS GUIDE" to show me how to action the transfer of photos.

As a 77 year old pensioner I am trying to keep up to date with current technology but fine it difficult to understand some of the jargon.

THANKS IN ANTICIPATION

I'm fairly sure you can transfer photos, etc, without installing any unnecessary software.
Connect your phone to the PC with the USB cable.
The computer will detect that there is an external device connected and will poss ask you what you want to do. I'm not sure what the prompt will be, it'll prob be "open folder to view files" or something similar.
Sometimes it won't prompt you, in which case, go to "my computer" (or just "computer") and locate the last drive alphabetically, it'll prob be "F" or "G".
Double click on it. All you're doing now is looking in your phone's content. There will prob be a folder called "images". When you locate the photos that you want to transfer, press the left mouse button once and keep it held in and drag it across and drag it onto your desktop. The photo will stay on your phone and you'll also have a copy on your desktop.
