Reverting back to Hotmail from the new Outlook...

After searching online it seems all I have to do is 'click the gear icon in the upper right corner and then click Switch back to Hotmail'.

Trouble is I have no gear icon, just a simple blue bar across the top of the page with the Outlook logo at the left.

My reason for wanting to revert back to Hotmail is that I now have no way to attach a file to a new email!

I have just registered for Outlook and I can attach files.

Press New to create a new email.

On the right is the text "Add a subject" where you put the subject of the email.

Underneath are various icons for changing the look of the text.

Then under that is a paperclip where it says "Attach files"

But if you dont get the "gear" in the top right maybe something has gone wrong for you.

On the right of the blue bar across the top I get a small "square" icon for messaging, then a "gear" icon, then my name, then a small icon of a person where you can put your picture.

What do you get in the top right?
Does your Outlook screen look like this after you press "New"?

See the "attach files" in the centre, and the various icons in the top right, including the gear icon.

(The best part about this was tinypic gave me the captcha of "ding dong" to upload it)

I forgot to add I'm on a Mac, which is probably the reason!

Looks like I'll have access my Hotmail account on a machine running Windows which should allow me to see the 'gear icon' and revert back to Hotmail that way.
Surely you could try it using a different browser on the mac....

(or just get a proper computer ;p)

I've tried three different browsers.

This is exactly what I see:

Ah, I guess Microsoft dont ship anything until they make it fail on a Mac !

I remember years ago, when Microsoft were fighting it out with Lotus for the "Office" market, every time they were going to ship a new version of Windows the Microsoft developers said "it aint done till Lotus dont run" !

why dont you run win7 on your mac using Parallells or similar

''why dont you run win7 on your mac using Parallells or similar''

Because I don't have any need for it.

Why should they have to, the whole point of the web is that it should run the same on every browser on every type of computer.
It seems from a quick search that opera are aware of a problem with outlook.com regarding attaching files and will fix it in the next release, can't find anything mentioned about other Mac browsers having problems though.

Thanks for the replies. I've reverted back to Hotmail for now via a Windows PC.
