i used to have a regular size laptop with which i used broadband at home and when i travel every couple of months i would use a payg dongle (which used to be my way of regular access pre-broadband at home). i am currently away and have swopped wit a family member my full size laptop for the notebook they had. ive now come up with the problem that the dongle finds the signal and although it can be good it wont actually let me view the web. it lets me go on for half an hour to an hour a day if i am lucky. is there any connection as to why this should be so? i have tried both the laptops with a friends home broadband and no luck with big laptop that has connected fine previously (small was never used that way and not on web at all). i have also re-tried putting the dongle into the big laptop but no luck. it sounds daft but it's for all the world as if the dongle liked the big laptop and because i tried it elsewhere it refuses to work and the laptops refuse to use the dongle too or friends home broadband. this is my first notebook/netbook/small laptop but i don't believe there should be a difference just because of a lack of ability to insert a disk should there? thank you for any advice. don't know if it's worth noting that the large laptop is only 3/4mths old and has had no problems before and the small laptop although 2yrs old has only been used about 6 times ever and that was for playing game on a disk through an external hard drive.
