How long does it take to charge a 7"Google Android 2.3 ePad

I have just bought a 7" Google Android 2.3 ePad and wondered how long it took to charge as I have had it plugged in for three hours and when I switch it on it does nothing, it says in the instruction manual that the light will turn green when charged but after a while the red light goes off and I still can't get it to switch on.
Is the ePad faulty or should I leave it to charge for longer?

Epad now working great, must have needed a good charge to get it working.

Pretty much all battery powered stuff requires 8 to 12 hours charge minimum for the first charge.
