My daughter has a HTC Sensation and she only has 100mb data usage but it's being used up at a rate of knots all of a sudden. She hasn't used the internet on it for a few days but it's still going down. She has uninstalled Whatsapp in case that was the culprit but yet again it's still being used up quickly. I'm at my wits end cos once it has been used Orange will charge. I rang Orange but after waiting half an hour I hung up ! What the heck is going on ??

oh, I don't know. I'll ask her when she comes in ! Thanks !
It would be worth installing a (free) application called Apndroid - this allows you to completely turn off all mobile data transmissions, whilst leaving the basic phone/text services working normally.

You can still use the internet via a wifi service, but will not incur any data charges from Orange for this.

You can then turn the mobile data back on for specific periods as long as you have some of your monthly allowance left.

I went on the Orange website and went on the live chat yesterday and the lad said as it is an android phone she needed to go into settings and turn the background data off and that would cure it but when she went into her settings it was already turned off !
You can never stop all background activity - some are regarded as 'system processes' and will just carry on anyway.

That's why Apndroid is so useful - it actually turns the data connection right off (which also increases battery life enormously too)
According to Wikipedia the phone might have been updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich by now, if it wasn't that already, and there was an article in a recent edition of Web User magazine about controlling your data usage:

it may be of some use even if the phone isn't that version of the OS

oh heck, I'm so baffled lol ! I will show my son your replies when he gets in from work and see if he can sort it. It's beyond me.
Strange thing is, she has had this phone for months and it's only just started to happen in the last month.
Thanks very much :-)
