I am wanting to go self emp as a freelance secretarial administrator.  i am wanting to advertise online and so need a website.  i would ideally like a booking system online where people could check my availability and book me direct. 

any idea on how, cost etc?

There are a number of costs involved. The website development, the booking system development and the hosting of the site.

Website dev would depend on how many pages you would want. Booking system dev depends on what technology the hosting supports (ASP, ASP.NET, PHP, MySql, Sql Server, Access). The hosting depends on how much you want to spend (PHP, MySql would be the cheapest, but might put up the cost of the booking system development).
