Hi, I have an old analogue tv that has 2 scart sockets, an s-video socket and a 3 split scart socket on the side. My husband would like to be able to connect my laptop to it which has usb's, a hdmi socket and a serial port.

My question is what is the best way to connect the 2 and what cables will we need so that we can view live streaming on the tv?

Thanks in anticipation x

Basically..... It's not going to happen with the TV you have.
What other connectors are on your laptop? Does it have an S-Video out?

Does it have a female VGA connector (so you can connect it to an external monitor)?

If it has the former, you should be okay with an S-Video to SCART kit like this one here...

If it's the latter, you might be struggling as I believe it's very difficult to get a VGA output onto a normal TV.

Your best bet is to get a TV with some HDMI sockets – then all you need is an HDMI cable but of course this means getting yourself a new telly.

Thanks for the brilliant help, the links so I could identify the sockets were great! Unfortunately it doesn't look like my laptop has an s-video out socket so I guess my hubbie is going to be struggling and that ChuckFickens more succinct answer may be right but thanks ever so Birdie for your detailed help.
You're welcome.
