I have Office/word 2010 on my PC (with lots of nice fonts) and have made a poster for our charity shop window. Usually if I email it to the shop for them to print it off it doesn't stay faithful to my fonts and effects (not sure what word we have but it is probably 2003).

is there a way for me to save the document before I send it that will ensure that the poster chugged out at their end is the same as the one on my PC?

Failing this I will print it off and wander down to the shop - but I usually end up staying half the day doing stuff.

Thanks

I thank you and Oxfam thanks you - I will go and try and make up another one.

Ink - we have a Dell printer and the ink is ££££. Do you use cheapo ink on your printer? I must admit to buying Epsom for my printer as I had a bad experience with ink from (I think) Ink Factory.
That will (almost) certainly do it. if it doesn't, then we can look at embedding fonts.

I most certainly don't use "cheapo" ink in my printer - who on earth would do that...?

For a while everybody that I know was buying ink out of the little shops who were selling cheaper stuff that was supposed to be just as good. I felt that it was a false economy.

I won my printer in a competition and I also got my MacBook and Ipod in another competition. I am now off to enter some more. ;-)

Thanks
Wolf

I use ink from a local Cartridge World shop. It is about half the price of branded Epson ink and I see no loss of quality. That said I don't do a lot of colour work.
I have seen some posts on here saying Jettec cartridges are good, I have never used them.
If you use fonts on your computer to make a poster or any document for that matter, another computer won't display the text it in the fonts you used unless the other computer has the same fonts on it. Copy your fonts from your Fonts folder (find it in C:\Windows\Fonts), store it on a memory stick (flash drive), and paste them in the Fonts folder on the destination computer (or send the fonts there by email and ask them to save the fonts in their Fonts folder).
I'd suspect cheapo inks are used by those who are incensed at the price of branded inks, and have calculated a saving when taking into consideration the replacement costs of a probable shorter lifetime cheap printer. (Hmm ... one day I must get my printer working, but I have so little use for it.)
As a last resort you can do a screen prints and paste them into Photoshop and composite them then print them off to make a poster
You could always print it out and post it, I suppose. That would avoid a load of hassle.
Save as a .pdf file with embedded fonts and make sure any images included are of a high enough resolution for your desired output.

rhythmcrazy - I am unable to change fonts (or download fonts) on the PC even with the administrator/manager password.

Guys - ink .... I have a nice little stock of ink just now. I will see if that stock or the new printer last longer and then decide on quality over lower price.

I think that I will print off a couple at home and then toddle down to the shop later in the week - it is 0.2miles away!
