Ring them, connemmara - any time I've had a problem, phoning them fixes it.

Are you sure it's a genuine email from BTBroadband, though, and not a scam?
This is a scam? Is you INP BT? Scan you machine don't ring until you are 100% sure its not a scam.

sorry headwreck have completely where to find antivirus
Question Author
sorry meant to say forget to find antivirus scan - where will I get it
Hmmm - would BT email you to say that you had been blocked, then ask you for password information by email?
No. It's a scam.
Phone BT and report it - if you can stand their queuing system.
To check if your computer has been fiddled with you need to run an antivirus scan, and then any other useful programs you may have installed such as spybot and c-cleaner.
Find your antivirus program - it might be Norton, Macafee, Avast etc click on it and find 'run scan'. When the scan has run you might see it asks should it delete the following....hopefully it might say 'no threats detected'.
To find your antivirus program, click on start and then scroll right down to the full list of programs. it'll be in there somewhere.

Question Author
headwreck I did stumble on that site and filled in time and time again - unfortunately left my card details and I hope they dont take the amount out as I was no further on - I am going to have get an expert in. but thanks anyway headwreck.
How did you manage to read this email if you are unable to get into your email? If you are still able to access Hotmail through your usual manner then you cannot be blocked.

If you tried to change your password via a link in the email then you have probably given the scammers your full login details and they will have been using your account to send out spam, they may also have your banking details and home address from any emails you have saved from online shopping.
Cancel any debit and credit cards you have asap.

for attention of daffy654 - I used another email address so I was able to get on to my sites particularly my online banking TG. so far nothing has been taken
connemmara, if it's a scam your email account shouldn't be affected, have you tried logging in? Also, if you go to the BT Broadband site you should find a "Contact us" link where you can email them through the site, should save you having to struggle on the phone?
