Have a Toshiba tv with built in freeview,how do i connect a sony dvd recorder to tv to enable me to view and record off freeview,do i need to adjust settings on tv once connections are made,eg: RGB ? TIA

You can (I assume) but you are missing one vital point. It is your TV that is freeview, not your DVD - it would have to get the signal from your telly (on) and if that's the case you might as well watch it. It's only use would be recording something you wanted to save to watch again later.

I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding here Postdog maybe i havent explained it properly. All i want to do is be able to record things of freeview so i can download them to a disc, the analogue channels record fine but i cant get the freeview channels to record so i assumed it must be some setting i needed to adjust on the tv.
As I said I reckon it could be done but not knowing the lead sockets you have I can't answer exactly. The best I can do is just suggest you do a google search (recording from freeview tv to recorder (for example)) and see if you can find anything.

My answer was because that is quite a common thing on here where people get a freeview TV or box and cannot understand why they can no longer record)
Assuming that your TV has a fully wired scart socket (ie is capable of ouputting video) then just connect this to the AV scart connection of your recorder & set it so that it records from the AV input rather than it's own tuner.
