i put passwords on our pc to stop my kids logging in at will but i found out that u dont actually need to type in the password at all to get in  ! which made the whole things entirely pointless
You must be setting them all up as administrators and not users. If they are just users they shouldnt be able to change other peoples passwords
I'm a little confused as to how many users managed to change each others passwords. Yes you can access other people's user accounts through the control panel. But you can't change their password without first knowing it. My suggestion is having a password that no one else knows!
If you need to have lots of people with administrator privlages for games, etc but don't want them to mess wit the settings try fresh ui, http://www.freshdevices.com/freshui.html i use it to allow my sister to use sonicstage but not change passwords or affect system wide settings. You need to install it then go onto each individual account and put a password on the software so they can't undo the settings then you can deny access to the control panel etc.
