In the bottom right hand side of out computer we have items we no longer want.. How do we get rid of these?  They can not be taken to the recycle bin, as we can't remove them from under the frame..  Thanx

Either uninstall them or hide them.  To uninstall, do it via the Control Panel > Add Remove Programs.
If you don't know what programs they are, double click on them or right click and choose an option that's likely to bring up a new window (Options?  About?).

To hide them, right click on the taskbar and choose properties.
Tick "Hide Inactive Icons", then click Customise and you'll be able to look at a list of icons and choose "Always hide" etc.

Another way, if you need the programs, but don't need them loading up on startup (which is a common way for the system tray to get filled up) is go to your start menu, and click "Run" (or press the windows key+R). In this box, type "msconfig" (sans quotes) and press return. This will bring a dialog box up, allowing you to change a few aspects of your computer. You need the "Startup" tab towards the right side. Click on that, and deselect any programs you no longer need to start when the computer boots up. If you need a program, and accidentally desect it, you can simply reselect it by running the msconfig utility again.
