My computer has 256 mb of ram and recently i installed an extra 256 mb but the computer dosent seem to recognise this. Any help?

have you firmly 'clicked' it home ? and is it compatible with your existing ram ? ie is it the same

has you device manager picked it up?its found on yor control panel then click on printer and other hardware...run add hardware scan and c if it picks it up,and as mattk says
