This is driving me mad: First I couldn't use my Google Bookmark Button for Firefox when it updated to Firefox 4; so then I used GMarks, which worked with Firefox 4, and then Firefox updated again to Firefox 5 - and now (well for the last few weeks, actually) I can't use my bookmarks, where I have easily over a 1,000 websites stored.

It's driving me insane.

Can you help?

Thanks

Save downloaded xpi file
Open FF and go to Tools/Addons
At top select Update .. Install Addon from file
Browse and select xpi .. and agree, etc
Restart!

I use a number of addons in Firefox .. but never used it.
I do however use a couple that are not 'officially' for Firefox 5.
The addon can be modded to allow it to be installed .. You will just need to test it to see if it works ok. The worst that can happen is that you have to delete the intallation folder for this addon before you start Firefox .. which is easy enough to do.
I am using one addon in 5 that was never certified even for Firefox 5!
There is a new addon that is a compatibility 'helper' .. which is not brilliant.
Let me test GMarks for you in 5 for an hour .. I'll let you know what do do to MOD it so you can try it.
Al.
Just seen this ... Did you try it?
It's probably modded to install .. as I would have done!

I just added a modded GMarks to FF5.
It looks like working fine for me. Let me know and I'll post what to do to add it. Tis easy.
I also just tested Google Bookmark Button 0.7 for Firefox .. and this works fine in 5 too (without any mods at all)

How do I add that modded one? I downloaded that a few weeks back - but I don't have the foggiest what to do with it!?

Google Bookmarks Button and GBookmarks are different. GBookmarks never seems to work for me.

Google Bookmarks Button:

GBookmarks:

Save downloaded xpi file
Open FF and go to Tools/Addons
At top select Update .. Install Addon from file
Browse and select xpi .. and agree, etc
Restart!

An example why GBookmarks never works for me: I can see my bookmarks, but it doesn't let me go into them. I've tried this for a few years now and it's always the same.

Not all addons are 'official' Sometimes you have to look at author's page (as some may not yet been tested and approved by Mozilla crew)
I tested both Bookmarks and GMarks by installing in my FF5.
I modded my own GMarks to test.
I dl the G Bookmark one from my link shown.

So you get the folders .. but can't browse out of them into sub-folders or bookmarks. I agree that is probably an addon bug.
Have you looked in author's site for clues?

That's worked, AlBags. I wish I could buy you a beer, mate.

Thanks a lot. ;-)
Good luck with it then! No probs. Chink! Chink! : )
