Hi all - my son has a LG digital TV, for two years he has had access to all the freeview channels, after the switch on a few weeks back and after several AUTO tuning it will only pick up about half of the channels and jumps huge chunks out. ie BBC1/2/ITV simply not there and the first digital it's picks up is QVC!!! I notice that when tuning and the search bar, it already starts scanning at 50% along the bar, it misses out half the search range (does this make sense)?? any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance x

There are several factors which could cause tuning problems after digital switchover.
First question : Is it an integrated TV ( inbuilt Freeview tuner ) or is it coupled to a Freeview Digi-Box ?
Have you got a good outdoor Aerial ?
Some older freeview boxes including some integrated TV's were unable to cope with the extra Channels provided when re-tuning and gave up the 'Ghost'.
A full re-scan from scratch is necessary when retuning after switchover, followed by a monthly rescan as new Channels come on air and others are discontinued.
Which area of the UK are you receiving TV signals from ??
athough we have not yet been switched over, in June, we had similar problem and lost the commercial channels completely for a bit despite full retuning, fixed itself after a few days, still don't know what the problem was, fiddling with transmitter ? as all other channels were fine.
There are usually two options, one for add new channels, and one for first time install. Make sure you are using the latter.

It's an integrated LG freeview TV. Aerial fine and this TV has been fully working fully for 2 years until the past week or so. At the switch over (we are in GL52 Cheltenham) I re-did all our intgratedTv's (another 2 and they are fine) the main TV is for SKY and that's perfect I think, but then we dont use freeview only ever switch to the SKY channels. There is a factory settings restore, i wonder if was to clear everything off and re-start it woudl scan correctly. As i mentioned whn the machine is scanning it starts at 50% along the search bar (which is why we are missing loads of other main stream channels) any help would be appeciated, annoying when all the other sets are fine. TIA x

Yes, do it.
Do a full Scan from scratch as if you were Auto tuning for the first time.
Now you are fully on digital the signal strength should be good so no reason not to receive all the Channels on offer.

OK restored to factory settings last night. (so put language/time zone etc) then did a full scan. as always it doesnt start scanning at 1% - it starts at 50%, so when it finishes, we only have 10 freeview channels, not the 30-40 we had before the changeover. So I can see me calling a TV engineer at this rate! oh and one other thing it now does, my son can pick up the main sky channel in his room (his aerial feeds back into a central loft point where all our sets work and sky beamed to other rooms) He wasnt set up originally to do this, so could this be blocking the other freeview channels????
Hi there. I have exactly the same problem. Only pic up 10 channels after some power problems in my block of flats in GL52! did you ever solve the issue above your end?
