Switching Data between iPhones

I'm getting my SIL second hand iPhone 3GS as the buttons have fallen off mine. I assume she will have wiped it before she gives it to me but if I sync my current phone and then sync the new one with my iTunes, will everything get switched over to the new phone? All the contacts, pictures, apps, etc?
