Hi smurfchops,

Maybe your automatic updates on windows is switched off.......]

Go to Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > see Basic Info about Comp > automatic updates on the top and if not checked on 'ON'...click and apply.

Try that to start. :0)
Make sure you have the latest update agent installed first, you can download it from here.

yogi I seem to have the same problem on my lap top as well, which is Windows 7. How do I switch on automatic updates, and if this is the case, when I ask it to update, why doesn't it do it anyway ?
it's nothing to do with automatic updates if it won't update when you run it manually.

If it's doing the same on two computers it sounds like it might be a connection problem, how long has it been going on for? if it's just today it's possible that BT have a slight peering problem stopping you from connecting to the update sites.
see if the link below works, if it doesn't then you can't connect to the windows update site

(you don't have to actually download the file, if the prompt pops up asking you to OK the download then it's working and you can click cancel)

Chuck I did what you just said and it asked whether I wanted to run or save the file. What do I do now ?
