I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm not very computer litterate, so bare with me!
Just lately, when i switch on my computer and click the icon for the internet, a screen comes up telling me that it cannot connect me. I then have to unplug my modem, (ethernet), wait a couple of minutes, plug it back in, and then eveything is ok.
This has happened before, very occassionaly, but is now happening nearly evey time.
Does anyone know why?
It happens whether I use mozilla or internet explorer.
Thanks for any help. x

I won't bare with you even though I am very hot in my garden. :) My neighbours can see me and I don't want to put them off their breakfasts.

Your problem is very common but much more information is needed.

Who is your ISP?
Confirm that your pc is connected directly to the modem and not to a router.
What firewall are you using?

Ethel, I've just popped in from the garden, I'm not actually that bare!!
I'm with Pipex
My pc is connected to a Broadband Blaster DSL Router
As for my firewall, I know I've got one, but how do I find out which one?
I told you I'm not good with computers plus I think the sun has shrivelled my brain!!!
Oh well, back to the garden it is!!
I'll check back later! x
I am bare but this might help. I have a laptop so I have an external modem. For a long time I had the same trouble but after switch on, I have to wait for both lights on the modem to remain steady before I can get on to the internet. If this isn't your problem it may help somebody else.
