Had a txt to my mobile, off a mobile number +44 7485171472 Supposedly off HSBC. “ HSBC alerts. You added a new recipient Mrs K Adams on 02-04-21 at 11:04. If this was not you Block the payee here. https://review-payeesecure.online/hsbc
I have a HSBC Card only used previously for a 0% balance transfer. I don’t bank with HSBC. Is this a scam. Thanks.

Aye.
seems so.
How did HSBC get hold of your mobile number? Answer is, they didn't so it's a scam.
It's a definite scam. The website that's linked to seems to not even exist and the domain name itself was only registered yesterday.
This has been featured on tv and papers alot recently.always log in and check . Never click on links. Bet the text never even mentioned your name cos they wouldn't know it
i keep on getting international calls, about my internet provider, they are a blessed nuisance. I know its a scam so i just hang up
If it was genuine you would be advised to contact the bank, not block the payee.
I keep getting ones from "amazon"

Thanks to all.
This message has also been sent out concerning Nationwide Building Society; note the similarities

The text message states: “NATIONWIDE: At 16:53 on 2 April 2021 you added K Adams as a new payee for £250.00.

“If this was not you, visit to cancel at cancel-payeehelp.com/Nationwide.”

If you had any doubts before, you shouldn't have now.
Yes, of course its a scam.x
Emmie, don't hang up let them talk to themselves as all the time you leave the phone on they can't bother anyone else and you soon get struck off the list and your number doesn't get sold on. I've reduced my nuisance calls from 1 a day to 1 a month.
yes it is

the address is not a HSBC address - for a start.
Another way is to google some of the text wording. Often there mentioned in scam reports

Had the txt from Royal Mail doing the rounds yesterday. Same format just asking for £2:99 as well.
Wonder whether the texts cost them anything.
Am not sure why there numbers dont get closed down once repoted
mine just show up as International no number.
Definitely bogus, but the problem is HSBC and other banks, DO seen texts occasionally.
They'd never send you one directing you to a website though.
I got the Royal Mail one at 2.30 in the morning which, obviously, woke me up!!!!! Also FOUR times in one day I got one saying there was a warrant out for my arrest for defrauding HM Revenue and Customs so I added the number to my contacts and blocked it. All extremely annoying!!!
