Is it ok to accept all the cookies which are offered every time you use a different website. Shall I just keep pressing, 'I accept'?

Is it safe?

Cookies are generally safe.

They are not programs they are small text files.

They keep details of your userid and password so you dont need to logon each time, plus maybe keep details of when you last visited, or maybe your name.

So if you revisit a website it may say "Welcome back Fred, you have not visited us for a few days".

If you DONT let them save cookies you may find the internet becomes a bit of a pain having to logon each time.

Personally I am getting sick to death of pressing "I accept" on loads of web sites. There should be a default setting on in your browser which just says "I accept" to save you have to press it.
They are just advertising investigating tools. Problem with using interweb I'm afraid
i've downloaded an extension from the chrome store called 'i don't care about cookies' which bypasses the annoying 'i agree' procedure
sorry, meant 'i accept' not 'i agree'

How do you do that please, Ael?
If you have Firefox its fairly easy to clean out the cookies you dont want every now and then

Done that now, Ael. Thank you very much.
you're welcome

Thank you all for your helpful answers. I now know that I don't have to worry about Cookies. I obviously didn't understand properly what they were.

Thanks.
They are no worse than they were before they were obliged to ask. Another example of government wanting to do something, be seen to be doing something, but failing to tackle the real issue due to lack of understanding and so simply causing folk hassle.

Accept all; use something like superantispyware to remove offenders.
Its a legal obligation in Europe to allow the user of a website to accept cookies or not use the website

I didn't mind clicking on 'I accept'. I didn't know if it was safe to do so. Now, I don't have to.
