Hi, I would like to know the best way to download SW on my desktop. Not for payed work, but as a hobby machinist I really could use it.

I don't know the application but a company either allows a free version or it doesn't. Can you not try here https://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/downloads.htm?fromrss=1
