loads of spam in the in-box.
Apart from setting up another e-mail account is there any way to deal with this?

Is it all spam from the people you donated to? have you got a spam filter setup? I find that if this happens, a few days of rigorously marking what is spam soon sorts things out again.

It's American stuff. Wallmart, funding for veterans, Florida real estate, things like that.

At the bottom of most Spam emails there is usually an Unsubscribe Button or details of how to unsubscribe, I find they normally work quite well.
It's all in the small-print.

I'll unsubscribe and set up a filter.

I've now got 4025 in my inbox. It may take some time :-(
Put them in sender order and highlight loads in one go to delete or whatever.

The unsubscribe works for companies with some sort of reputation to lose, but tells the even more dodgy sellers that they have a live account. Use with care.

Yes a good spam filter will shove obvious spam into your junk folder before you get to see it.

Your AV might have that facility already.
I agree with OG, I don't use unsubscribe in emails that I didn't subscribe to.
