On My XP PC I have the free version of Commodo Antivirus (The log shows Version 8.1.0.4426). When doing the check errors were shown.
I selected General Tasks then Update to check for program and database updates and the following had error beside them:
X Check for website database update ERROR
X Download updates ERROR
I Viewed the log - shows 0x80070002 - The system cannot find the file specified. At the top of the page says Check for Program Updates ERROR.
Under STATUS it said Updates available but when I clicked it just showed release notes.
I am not sure if it is the case that I have to pay for updates or what to do next would be grateful for advise. Thanks

No personal experience of that AV, but have you tried uninstalling, downloading the latest version, then reinstalling ?
No further security updates are available now for the XP operating system. Something to consider.
I`m a hardcore techie and I`ve never even heard of that - keep well away
