Running IE8 on XP desktop ... every few days two of the IE8 toolbars change from the usual colour to black, and I'm finding it a bit hard to read black text on a black background. The only solution seems to be to re-install IE8 every time it happens. Any ideas?

To keep re-installing would not be the Answer, wooly17.
Have you got a Virus, do a Malwarebytes scan just incase

I run an AVG scan every day.
There are differences between Virus and Malware.

Consequently, it is important to have an Anti Malware Programme as well as your AVG which is an Anti Virus Programme.

You have a malware infection and it could be qv06 browser highjacker virus
which is very hard to remove .Malware Bytes can't remove it if you have it. You will need a paid program like SPYHUNTER 4 to this if you don't want to do it manually. The cost of the program is $40.00 US but it works. The manual removal is a lengthy one and you will have use the internet to find the removal process which requires registry work.
