epson printer problem

i've got a epson stylus photo r200 printer and using vista but i cant get the double sided printing box on the status monitor to work or get the ink levels to show i've checked on different sites but to no avail anyhelp would be grateful

When a printer is installed using just Windows all that is installed is the drivers.

But most printers come with other software that provides the utilities you are looking for. Often these are on the CD that came with the printer.

I have gone to the Epson support page for this printer, and it seems as it is very old support only seems to be there for older...

Are they original cartridges?
I presume using a duplexer attachment to the printer? Engaged properly and the supported feed/paper printing type selected (HP does not allow duplexing in draft mode)
Using up to date drivers?

Much software for older versions of Windows will not run on Vista, and I dont see Vista listed on any of these programs on the site below..
