Must all computer files be opened identically . . .

. . . or can the odd one be opened displaying their contents differently; ie the majority of files when opened displaying their files as icons in alphabetical order while others displaying their contents in a list? I'm using XP by the way.

Go to START/Programs/ and open Windows Explorer.
Click on VIEW in top menu and you will see a list of alternatives, i.e.
Thumbnails,
Tiles,
Icons,
List, or
Details.

Take your pick. of which you prefer. I personally like "details".

Thanks Wak, but that's how I determine how the files are opened but I think that governs all of them. What I was after was a method where I could open different files displaying their contents diffferently, not the same as the rest, as it is now.
