After trying most suggestions taken from the web, I now turn to my friends on AnswerBank. I need to restore my Asus Eeee 904 PC to its former speed and deleting what are considered to be unnecessary programmes I still didn't get a better speed. So I decided to re-format or re-install factory settings. I'm able to disable the Bios as instructed (via F2) but I can get no response from pressing F9 as instructed.
I've searched the web for guidance but without success. It's down to ChuckFickens & colleagues again please.......Telboy

I followed instructions re Bias using F2 ok but on switching on the netbook, F9 does nothing..just carries on loading. I had to transfer CD disc to a flash-drive and plug into usb as I don't have remote Rom drive. Will look at your suggested web page
Eeee pc have this problem. On the one here F7, 8 and 9 stopped working so no reset option. Had to reinstall windows in the end.

wooops....I don't have installation disc...it came pre-loaded.
The F Keys on some PC's can get reversed in function. Microsoft did an Flock script to modify behavior like this.
I can't see this can be the problem but FLock can be pressed imm. after boot to allow F keys to work as originally intended. Can't do any harm trying .. but WM may well be correct with a preloaded system.
Separate partition?
