done the updates today and now everytime i turn my pc on avg 2011 comes up saying pc needs to be restarted i restart then it comes up again any ideas as why this happens

This seems to be a common problem with AVG 2011. The consensus seems to be uninstall and reinstall AVG.

I would uninstall AVG and install AVAST Antivirus instead as this issue is becoming a very reocurring problem with AVG.
