how do I disable recovery commander

I am running Vista premium and every time I change programmes or try to open a file, the recovery commander runs, taking up to 5 mins at a time. It's driving me nuts - how do I stop it? I've been into uninstall progs but can't find it - I've no idea where it is!

delete the program through.......

Start > control panel > add remove programs > ...... wait and look for the programs installed... remove it from there
