I have a Hewlett Packard Photosmart 3310 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier which I purchased when I had a computer running on the XP operating system and it worked fine. I have since changed to a new laptop running on Vista and I have a recurring problem. The system disk supplied with the printer is only for XP so I've had to download the software for a Vista machine direct from the HP website.
This works fine for a while and then for no reason the software disappears from my machine and when I search for it I get the message, 'No HP products found'. I have downloaded the software many times even enrolling the assistance of HP and one of their paid for designated help services (this one is in Cape Town) who talk me through the whole process of removing everything HP from my machine (Dell Studio 17) and then re-installing which takes about an hour. It then works again for a day or so and then disappears again. This help service suggests the problem is with my computer and not an HP problem. My daughter's laptop on HP using the same wireless network never has the problem.
Does anyone have experience of a similar problem or can suggest a solution please?
